John
Growing up in San Antonio and attending Clark High School shaped much of who John is today. The core values of Class, Discipline, and Effort were instilled in him by Coach Alexander and his staff — values he continues to live by and bring into the company every day.
John’s passion for lawn care began in middle school when his mother was renting a house and the homeowner had left a broken mower in the garage. With the help of a neighbor, he got it running and quickly became the one responsible for mowing their yard. When he wanted a new bike, his mom encouraged him to mow a few neighbors’ lawns to save up. That small spark grew into knocking on doors, charging twenty dollars a yard, and running his first “business” long before he even knew it.
After graduating high school, John moved to College Station, where he earned his Associate’s Degree in Fire Science along with his EMT and Fire certifications. Soon after, he was hired by the fire department. With a 48-hour shift schedule and 96 hours off, he returned to his roots on his days off — mowing lawns to earn extra income and continue serving his community.
Seeing the opportunity to combine their vision, skills, and work ethic, Carlos and John teamed up to create Benders Lawn Care & Maintenance. The name, a blend of their two last names, represents a company built on hard work, family, and integrity.
Carlos
Born and raised in Mexico City, Carlos moved to San Antonio and earned his bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from UTSA. Carlos combines his technical background with his passion for building and design. Driven by an entrepreneurial mindset and a vision to create exceptional outdoor spaces, he partnered with John to create Benders Lawn Care and Maintenance.
His background in engineering and eye for precision bring a unique blend of technical skill and creativity to the company’s landscape and irrigation projects that sets Benders Lawn Care Apart. Whether developing custom irrigation layouts, executing complex landscape designs, or organizing schedules, his leadership ensures that every detail reflects quality, organization, and craftsmanship.
Carlos takes pride in the teamwork and growth that defines Benders Lawn Care, continuing to help shape the company into one of the area’s most trusted names in installation and maintenance. What began with two friends with a single truck, a few tools, and a strong work ethic soon grew into a respected company recognized for its quality and reliability
